The speaker is great, but Chromecast sucks: casting work one moment and drop the next. Volume out of sync with the software all the time. Bugs hasnt been fixed for years. Even their Bluetooth drop constantly when using with Chromecast for Google TV.
HomePod is $300 and Siri can’t do much of anything, per your own words. If it’s a smart speaker test, this doesn’t make sense why HomePod got some may points. I feel like you were being very biased here.
I see everyone comparing Google and Apple. I had the Alexa smart speaker, and after a few years, they stop updating software, so connecting through the app on the new updated iOS and Android is not possible. Apple gives support for years, so cost-wise, I’ll take the Apple device.
