If “affordable” speakers sit in the range of $250-$550, then I won’t even bother looking up how much the “non-budget friendly” options cost. It seems like EVERYTHING is just so expensive these days 🫠.
Can’t wait for my Cambridge audio sx 50 a and the fosi Audio bt20a4 pro! They arrive this week. I am 52 and It’s my first proper audio equipment. Allways loved music and consume every day but I never thought I could enter hi fi for 300€. Right now , 14 September 26 is the 9th anniversary of fosi, 15% off until 23 September. And right now you still can buy the last units of the Cambridge audio sx 50 before dissapears. (Considered for many as the best passive speakers for 200€) . After that they dissapear you will have to jump to 250-300. I don’t know any alternative n the market for 200.
I sold hi-fi between 1976 and 1983. Back in the late 70’s through the 80’s and 90’s, I used a pair of ESS AMT 1B monitors bi-amped with 400 watts into the 12″ woofer and passive radiator and 100 watts into the Heil Air Motion tweeter. Loved ’em. Then the bass amp (A Hitachi HMA-8300 failed and I lost the speakers in a divorce in 1997. So the Tweeter amp (Hitachi HMA-7500 mos-fet) became my main amp, powering a couple of decent garage sale speakers.
Now I’m still running the same electronics into a pair of Warfedale E3,s but with a good subwoofer. For my 72 year old ears I can still get that “the band is in the room” sound from good vinyl, just like I did back in the late 70’s. I really like this system and will probably leave it to my kids to sell when I die. My ears are much less discerning now (I wear hearing aids) and it’s made the music MUCH more important than the hi-fi. I’m really not much into being an audiophile any more. Also, being a gigging musician, most of the music I listen to now is stuff I’m practicing for a show – or live concerts on DVD, blueray or Youtube.
BTW, I built a 30×60 building 100 feet from my home in the Kentucky woods back in 2020. It’s a shop/mancave/rehearsal room with 16 feet of one end dedicated as the mancave/rehearsal/audiovideo room. All I use the house for now is to prepare meals, shower and sleep. The mancave is the “gathering place”.
Gee, what a surprise !! Emotiva wins again !! I had a pair – they’re garbage but you keep pushing them because Emotiva is greasing your palm. You’re a knowledgeable con man.
You are reviewing speaker and not a single time you demo sound of those.
