  1. Just installed an Aqara W200 in my house, to replace the crappy Honeywell smart thermostat that came with the house. Love the features, was simple to install and configure; adding a sensor for our bedroom to better control the temp at night.

This is my 3rd smart thermostat; I started with Nest when it first came out, then have had the Honeywell for 5 years, and now this one. Because the Aqara is Homekit-ready, it was so simple to implement and add to my iPhone’s home-page widgets. So cool.

  2. I have the W200 and while the thermostat function is fully local but the hub capabilities depend on the cloud (such as a bound aqara lock). I have the thermostat on a VLAN without internet access. If the power goes out and restored the thermostat does not sync all the bound devices so while the thermostat is still working locally, the aqara lock is offline. I would have to open up the internet to the thermostat momentarily, restart the thermostat, restart the aqara lock then only would the lock will sync and the internet can be disabled.

Since aqara gave you the thermostat please ask them is this intended behavior

  3. My Ecobee lasted for three years, then it decided the temperature in our house. I’m back with Honeywell.
